Biomass Biomass production analysis report for 2026 in northern Ivory Coast 28/10/202628/10/2026 Overall, biomass production was satisfactory and in line with the positive trend for 2025, but production in 2026 was generally lower than in 2025. Persistent biomass production deficits in the departments of M’Bengué and Ouangolodougou. Increased risk of forage deficit at the end of the dry season in the departments of Doropo, Téhini and Minignan due to early peaks in biomass. Biomass Biomass production analysis report for Senegal in 2026 26/10/202626/10/2026 End-of-season slowdown: nationally, biomass production remains close to the average, but is declining compared to 2025 In September, daily biomass productivity was below the average profile in most of the monitored departments. Localized deficits in the starting and transit areas: production is below average in the Ferlo and the river valley (Matam, Ranérou, Kanel, Linguère, Podor) as well as in the peanut basin (Kaffrine, Kaolack). Surplus situation in the south and east: the reception areas of Kédougou, Tambacounda, Kolda and Ziguinchor are recording above average production. Overall vulnerability neutral: the national index is neutral and only the Matam department has a moderate deficit. However, pockets of significant to very significant deficits appear along the Senegal River, north of Matam and east of Podor. Publications Pastoral monitoring bulletin for Senegal – August-September 2026 26/10/202626/10/2026 Pasture and water availability were generally satisfactory thanks to the successful wintering setup. The overall body condition of small and large ruminants is satisfactory. Livestock movements are mainly marked by returns from transhumance to the Ferlo and the pastoral areas of the North and Northeast Animal diseases and mortality were limited and localized. Conflicts and cattle rustling were limited and localized. A favorable livestock market, with rising prices for goats, sheep and cattle and improved terms of trade for goats for millet. Ivory Coast Pastoral monitoring bulletin for the northern region of Côte d’Ivoire – August-September 2026 26/10/202626/10/2026 Good availability of pasture and water at almost all of the surveyed sites Overall, the body condition of the livestock is good to fair; localized alert in Diawala (critical small ruminants) and Togolokaye. Outbreaks of disease at 3 sites (foot-and-mouth disease in Kong, pulmonary infections in Ferkessédougou, diseases in Téhini) and limited mortality. Cattle thefts at 3 sites and tensions over water in Niellé. All markets are open. Increase in livestock prices and decrease in basic cereal prices (millet, maize). Biomass Alert note on the situation of biomass production in Mauritania at mid-season 2026 14/10/202614/10/2026 Biomass production in mid-season 2026 returns to 85% of the reference average, after two seasons with a large surplus. The agropastoral provinces of the south and southeast, which concentrate the bulk of the national livestock, are the most affected: Guidimakha, Gorgol, Assaba, Hodh Chargui, and Hodh El Gharbi. Brakna (65%) and Tagant (59%) are also of concern. Risk of early reduction of pastures, concentration of herds and tensions around water and fodder resources during the 2026-2027 dry season, particularly in Hodh Chargui.
