  • Saison des pluies très mal repartie dans l’espace et dans le temps, défavorable au développement des ressources pastorales sur l’ensemble du pays

  • Feux de brousses ayant consumés des centaines de milliers d’hectares de pâturages, principalement dans la bande pastorale nord du pays
  • Mort de milliers de têtes de bétail par les inondations causées par les pluies diluviennes de juillet dans plusieurs localités des départements d’Abalak, de Tchitabaraden et de Madaoua
  • Mobilité des animaux perturbée par l’insécurité généralisée particulièrement dans les régions de Diffa, Maradi Nord, Tahoua et Tillabéri, auxquelles s’ajoute des vols récurant de troupeaux

  • Départ précoce des transhumants observé dans la zone nord du pays dans les localités de Dagana et Podor
  • Niveau de vulnérabilité élevé à l’échelle du territoire voire critique dans les régions pastorales de Louga, Saint-Louis et Matam

  • Déficit de production de biomasse au niveau national
  • Déficits de production de biomasse dans l’ensemble de la zone pastorale à l’exception de la région du Sahel
  • Déficits de production de biomasse dans les régions d’accueil des transhumants : Boucle du Mouhoun, de l’Est, des Hauts-Bassins
  • Contexte sécuritaire très difficile surtout dans les zones pastorales limitant l’accès aux ressources et aux marchés
  • Contexte économique difficile du fait des restrictions de mouvement consécutifs à la pandémie COVID-19, mais aussi de la fermeture des frontières avec le Bénin et le Togo qui traditionnellement sont des terres de transhumance pour les éleveurs Burkinabè

• Normal to surplus biomass production across almost the entire pastoral belt with the exception of a few small pockets located in the agropastoral zones of Tillabéri, Tahoua, Maradi and Zinder
• Death of thousands of cattle and the destruction of important infrastructure by floods caused by torrential rains in several localities
• Animal mobility disrupted by widespread insecurity, particularly in the Diffa and Tillabéri regions, and regular thefts of herds
• Difficult economic context due to movement restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic
